What I Want Now- Birthday Edition!!!

This post was originally posted on June 23, 2009.

So today is my 24th birthday, and there are a few things I will be wishing for when I blow out the candles on the fabulous cake my mom is making for me!
I am totally into florals right now, with the ruffle detail on the top, this dress is just too cute!!!

I love this dress in theory; the color is beautiful!  I would have to try it on and see how these ruffles look on my hips, but it so light and gorgeous!!

This floral high waist skirt is really cute; I an see it worn with a tank/wife beater and some cute stilettos or some cute little flats and gladiator sandals.

I have been needing and wanting some cute little flats, that aren't boring.  I love the neutral color, and the ankle tie is so cute.  These would be cute with a skirt, cropped trousers, jeans, or some cute shorts.
I need some new tan/brownish shoes, and these would be great! I can imagine them with the blue ruffle dress above; too cute!!
Anyone who knows me, knows I love a statement shoe!  I saw these on steve madden's website, and I have got to have them!!  The light suede is great for all seasons, and the blue is divine!!

So there is my birthday wish list; if/when I get any of these items, I will be sure to share!!!

Today's Bible Verses

Romans 5:3-5 (New International Version)

3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 12:12 (New International Version)

12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

ames 1:2-5 (New International Version)

Trials and Temptations
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

I Wouldn't Know You Like I Do

So I was sitting in my car Monday night waiting on my boyfriend to get something at his mom's house and "I wouldn't know you like I do" by James fortune and fiya came on the radio. It got me to thinking (I love good music because it always gets my mind going) if I hadn't gone through things in life, I wouldn't know Jesus like I do (still have knowing to do :-)). The bible says trials come to test your faith; sometimes God has to send us through things so that we may fall on our knees and come to Him. It's so awesome that God doesn't give up on us; he simply knows what to do to get us to come back to him and allow him to show up in our lives!!! Everyday I watch the news and it reminds me of all the things going wrong in life; I'm unemployed, trying to maintain, and it can become easy to get in the dumps or forget about how good God is. However, it is in these times that I realize that my relationship with God is getting better because of the times and experiences I am living right now. So the next time your tribulations get you down, count it a blessing for God to be reaching out to you saying "come closer; get to know me better." Isnt that a great way to look at it?!

Smooches Lovelies!

What I Want Now: Headbands!!

So in recent months, I have developed a small affinity for headbands.  They are so cute, and can be a playful addition to any outfit.  I prefer headbands with some kind of attachment; plain ones don't quite work for me.  I love the big pieces on the ones I am going to share, because they make a statement in themselves. What do you think?

I love the hunter green color of the feathers;  this headband will go great with jeans, a cute tee, and some lace up oxford peep toe stilettos or with a flowing maxi dress and metallic sandals.

I am such a girly girl at heart, I love stuff with bows.  They allow me to be a bit young, yet still elegant.  I try to stick to age appropriate bows, like this cream headband.  The color is great for summer.
This flora headband is divine!!!  It will look great, with a cute pencil skirt and top or cardigan for the office.  This headband would look great with hair pulled back.  Loves it!!!

Today's Bible Verses

Matthew 4:4 (New International Version)

4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'a]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[a]"

Deuteronomy 8:3 (New International Version)

3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

Just Being Real- Balance

Happy Thursday Ladies!!!

I pray  that you will bear with me in developing a consistent routine for posting.

Everyday that I wake up, the first person or thing to come to my mind is Jesus, because I know it is only the Lord who wakes me up daily and protects me as I sleep.  However, I have to be real, I am struggling with finding a balance in life.  Though Jesus is the first person I think of and I think of God's awesomeness throughout my day, I realize that I lack in other areas of my relationship with God.  I talk to him throughout my day, not always in an on my knees manner, but I sometimes find it hard to balance my time to make sure that I read His word the way I should and would like to.  Sometimes, I (and you too) get so caught up in living, of which I am really trying to do for my heavenly father, that by the time, i realize I have not taken a period of time to study and meditate on His word, it is late, I am sleepy, and feel like the word won't sink in in my sleepy state.  In my growth I realize that God appreciates realness, because He can not work with us if we are not 'keeping it real.'  Lately, I have been saying to God, Lord I don't know why or how I slack on reading your word, but please enter my heart so that I may desire you and your word more.  I know this is not my only flaw in my relationship with God, but this has been heavy on my heart.  Though it plagues me and makes me feel like I am failing God at times, He is so wonderful, because he gently gives me peace and lets me know that He is still here and that he sees and knows my heart and He is and will continue working on me.  God is so forgiving and understanding!!!  It is insane! ( Sidenote: How wonderful would the world be if we were more forgiving?)  I know I am not the only one who needs to get real with herself and God or ho has flaws in their relationship with God, but pray that you not give up on your relationship with God just because you maybe slacking in some area.  God's love never waivers, and He is just waiting on us to call out to him for help!!!

What I Want Now: Straight/Slouchy Trousers

So I really want some straight/slouchy trousers, preferably in a cotton fabric.  I think they will be very flatterring, but not too tight like skinny trousers.  These pants would be cute with super cute high heels or to work, as a teacher, rolled with cute flats.  Unfortunately most of the straight/slouchy leg trousers I like are way out of my budget; I found a fabulous pair at H&M, but there si no H&M in Houston or Texas for that matter (the travesty!!!!).  I found a really lovely pair on
net-a-porter.com by Alberta Feretti (way out of my budget right now), but here is how I would wear them to lunch or dinner with those of whom I love.

This gray color is perfect!!  Not too light or too dark.  Gray is an underrated neutral that we should wear more of.  The light high waist of these will hide my slowly growing pudge (an ab workout regimen is on its way, LOL)

This tank is simple, which is necessarly when wearing a trouser with some pleating (sidenote:  ladies who have some issues in the tummy area, avoid pants and shorts with pleating.  It can possibly make you look heavier; if that is your issue).  Plus a simple tank or top, leaves a clean palette for a statement necklace.
Those of you who know me, know I love pearls; they are so classic!  I really love the edginess of this necklace.  It still has the classic pearls but the looping and rhinestone pendant make it divine!!!  And it is only like 13 bucks at forever21!
I love a colored shoe; it adds interest an otherwise bland outfit, especially when there is no print in the pieces.  I like the platform, because they are more comfortable.  The combo of black, gray, and cobalt blue, is super chic and fab!!!

This is one of many outfits I would wear (minus a few accessories, that I probably already have) if I had those Alberta Ferretti slouchy/straight trousers in my wardrobe.  How would you wear these trousers or something similar?
